This weekend we celebrate the Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time. We welcome Father Bill Taylor who has graciously offered to celebrate Mass for us one more weekend before new assignments go into effect on Monday, July 2. Following this weekend, Father Bill’s responsibilities as senior priest (along with teaching in the lay ministry program) will be to celebrate Mass at Saint Dominic Parish. Father Steve Gavit, pastor of the parish, has two worship sites and four weekend Masses, so Father Bill we be helping him this coming year. Thank you, Father Bill, for your ministry among us!
Special thanks to all who made a conscientious effort to return your CSA pledge before the end of this fiscal year. Our latest update is that we have received $33,098 in pledges which represents 61% of our assessment. Thus far, 55% of our households have participated in the CSA Appeal. Thank you for your generosity! If you are still discerning a pledge, you may return it this weekend or within the next few months. Please drop it in the collection, either of the parish mailboxes, or at the parish office. I am really convinced that if everyone makes an effort, we can meet our parish assessment this year!
You may be interested in knowing that the parish had two loans (both of which were on a payment schedule through September, 2018): a three-year loan ($21,000 CSA deficit 2014-2015) and a two-year loan ($20,000 CSA deficit 2015-2016) which we paid off three months early. We withdrew money from our savings account to do that. Now we begin this new fiscal year on July 1 with a clean slate, having no debt toward CSA for the past four years. [You may remember that both in 2017 and this year (2018), we took care of the deficit for those appeals from our savings account, which together amounted to approximately $17,000]. All we have to do is reach our assessment for this current year, and I believe we can do it. We can’t continue to withdraw such large amounts of money and continue to deplete our savings. That would be fiscally irresponsible on our part.
Please note the parish office hours for the months of July and August. They are Monday through Thursday: 9:30 AM – 3:30 PM.
Please save the date of Sunday, August 26 which is our annual parish picnic. The picnic begins at 12:00 Noon in the Parish Center Meeting Room. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be served. All are asked to bring a dish to pass. Consult upcoming bulletins for further details.
Blessings on your week!
